Are you ready to embark on a PhD?

We are very excited to call for applications from prospective PhD students. ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø is offering graduate research scholarships to support you while you study and pursue your research, with a range of scholarships that include stipends, tuition, relocation and others.

If your research passion is in child wellbeing and prevention of abuse, neglect and maltreatment, ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø's Institute of Child Protection Studies could support your studies. We would be able to supervise PhD research in a range of themes such as the following:

• safeguarding children in institutions
• understanding and preventing child abuse and neglect
• enhancing prevention capacity
• strengthening child protection systems and practice
• child-centred policy and practice.

We are open to discussing your areas of interest and are available to talk through your thesis ideas. Topics could include (but are not limited to):

• measures of safety and capability of organisations or families to implement safeguarding strategies
• any topics related to understanding the prevalence and impact of various forms of child maltreatment and how we understand and measure the dimensions of maltreatment and their outcomes across life, with access to Australian Child Maltreatment Study data
• ethical issues related to children and young people who engage in research
• the lived experience of children and young people experiencing domestic and family violence as victims and survivors in their own right
• protective factors that prevent sibling sexual abuse
• an examination of the complex and interconnected experiences of vulnerability and disadvantage among families within the child protection system.
